Two Amazing Music-Inspired Watches

Uniquely combining rhythm, timing, and technical expertise, music is truly as close as we can get to an universal language.

While we could talk for weeks about how large and varied the world of music is, we’ve teamed up with our friends over at Long Jewelers in Virginia Beach, Virginia, two talk a little about our two favorite (newer) musical inspired timepieces.

#1. Thelonious Monk Limited Edition Timepiece by Oris

In the long line of watches made to honor the some of Jazz’s most accomplished artists including, John Coltrane, Dexter Gordon, and Louis Armstrong comes this limited piece paying tribute to the gifted pianist and composer Thelonious Monk from Oris [model #01 732 7712 4085-SET LS].

Made of stainless steel and featuring a genuine leather strap, the Thelonious Monk watch from Oris is as deceivingly simplistic as the music of its namesake. Handmade by expert Swiss watchmakers this watch’s streamlined design and number-less face comes together to create a piece that is versatile and that would fit in as much in the office as it would the club.

Additionally, with a smaller price-tag than many other limited edition watches, Oris’ Thelonious watch would make a great first watch for any Jazz enthusiast, or just for someone looking to start their Swiss timepiece collection.

#2. The Beatles Limited Edition Watch by Raymond Weil

A self-described “music-inspired watchmaker,” Raymond Weil has already created pieces that pay tribute to the a variety of musicians ranging from Les Paul and Frank Sinatra. Falling somewhere in the middle of those legendary artists are, of course, those lovable lads from Liverpool, the Beatles. Raymond Weil Maestro 2237-ST-BEAT1 product image

As a part of their fashion-forward Maestro collection, the Raymond Weil Beatles watch [model #2237-ST-BEAT1] is a ticking celebration of the timeless albums of the Beatles. Featuring the album names around the watch face and the unique “Help” silhouette a the 6 o’clock mark, this watch is perfect for Beatles fans of all ages and tastes.

More than just fan service, Raymond Weil’s Beatles watch is made with gleaming stainless steel, featuring a bold steel band, and is water resistant for up to 150ft, making it a real example of the sort of commitment to quality that has come to define Raymond Weil.

What’s Next?

These are only two of the amazing music-inspired timepieces available at independent fine jewelry retailers today. For example, in the pipeline for Raymond Weil is a watch to commemorate the 80th birthday of Buddy Holly, as well as another Beatles piece inspired by their legendary Abbey Road album.

And while we’re not sure yet who is going to be featured next in Oris’ Jazz series of watches, we did see the brand present a massive selection of new models from their Diving and Aviation collections at this year’s Baselworld. This means that no matter what Jazz legend is featured, the piece is sure to be spectacular.
