5 of My Favorite Cartier Watch Models (Right Now)

With Fall in full-swing, and Winter just around the corner, I figured this would be the best time to really double-down and start paying attention to this blog. My hopes are that LJ&T becomes a resource for those who are curious about finally making the big leap, and who are ready to buy a lifelong timekeeping companion (for themselves, or even just for a loved one). So let’s get things started, why don’t we?

I know that this may be controversial, but Cartier is one of my favorite watch brands. For nearly 200 years Cartier has been found on the wrist of some of the today’s most influential — and — fashionable movers-and-shakers ranging from Michelle Obama to Mick Jagger and everyone in between.

Still one of the top names in Swiss-made timepieces, the today’s Cartier are every bit as stylish as they have ever been. With that in mind, here is a list of five Cartier watches I’m into at the moment. Ranging from classic and timeless Cartier designs (such as the Ronde Cartier Croisiere model #2RN0005) to modern, fashion-forward models (like the Cartier Cle model #WHCL0008), all of these Cartier pieces would make an absolutely amazing addition to any wardrobe.

1. Cartier Calibre Diver Watch (Model #W7100052)

A  mixture of sporty and streamlined design features with Cartier’s high-fashion aesthetic, the Cartier Calibre Diver Watch is a true sight to behold. An extension of Cartier’s legendary Calibre de Cartier collection, 18-karat rose gold bezel (also available in stainless steel models),  a striking sapphire-studded crown, rugged rubber strap, and easy-to-see glowing numbers. All of these attributes come together seamlessly, making the Cartier Calibre Diver a true piece of haute horlogerie that is as prepared for a day of thrilling adventure as it is for a night on the town.

2. Cartier Ballon Bleu Carbon Watch (Model #WSBB0015)

Featuring a streamlined, all black coloring, this watch — from Cartier’s Ballon Bleu collection — is made of ADLC (amorphous diamond-like carbon) stainless steel, which Cartier claims is more scratch resistant than other watch materials. Whether or not that’s true, the Cartier Ballon Bleu Carbon watch brings with it a definite edge, and adds a splash of youthfulness to the classic dress watch affair.

3. Cartier Santos 100 (Model #WSSA0006)

In 1904, Louis Cartier created the Cartier Santos collection so his bff, aviator Alberto Santos Dumont could easily check the time while he was flying. Similar to the iconic Cartier Tank timepieces, the Cartier Santos 100 features a more square design, that is surprisingly flattering to the wearer’s wrist. This model itself is made of the same ADLC stainless steel as the Ballon Bleu Carbon, and is an attempt by Cartier to take advantage of the rapidly-growing millennial watch buying public.

4. Cartier Ronde Croisiere (Model #W2RN0005)

As opposed to the last three watches on this list, the Cartier Ronde Croisiere is a straight-up dressy and distinctive luxury timepiece (despite being categorized as a sports watch). With this watch, Cartier has attempted to create a model that encapsulates the vintage-timelessness of Cartier’s past, while being affordable to the regular person at the same time. With a starting price that is much lower than other timepieces, the Ronde Crosiere  is a perfect model for those looking to start their watch collection.

5. Cle de Cartier Automatic Skeleton Watch (Model #WHCL0008)

Released in 2015, the Cle De Cartier Skeleton watch marks a significant step forward for Cartier. Instead of sitting on their laurels, the watchmaking masters have created this watch that boldly displays the innovative 1847 MC Cartier Manufacture Movement housed inside. This watch makes a lasting impression on anyone that sees it, and is sure to only appreciate in value throughout the years due to its cutting-edge future-leaning design.
