While the past is dominated by questionable trends such as calculator watches, blinding dayglo Swatches, and other cringe-worthy fads, the future of women’s fashion timepieces is anything but dated. With 2018 just around the corner, at LJ&T we are all about staying on the cutting-edge of timepiece fashions and are thrilled to share with our readers three of the top women’s watch trends that we think you’re going to want to be aware of.

Including innovative hybrid technologies, a throwback to classic styles, and a turn to the extravagant, here are three of the up-and-coming timepiece trends you’re sure to see tons of in 2018.

Trend #1: Hybrid Smartwatches

Over the past few years, watchmakers have been trying to find a way to successfully combine the innovative functionality of smartwatches with classic timepiece design. Finally, after a rough couple of years, many luxury grade watch designers have found the perfect balance of style and function to bring smartwatches into the next-century of horological history.

One such watchmaker, Michele, has excelled at creating hybrid smartwatches of superior usability and sartorial satisfaction. Voted one of the “Top 25 Smartwatches and Hybrids from Baselworld 2017” by Gadgets & Wearables, the Hybrid Smartwatch collection by Michele feature the brand’s signature sporty design mixed with easy-to-use and convenient capabilities.

Made with gleaming stainless steel cases and genuine leather straps, Michele’s Hybrid Smartwatches display filtered notifications, a multitude of activity trackers, music control, and automatic time-zone updates, ensuring that the wearer won’t miss a thing.

Trend #2: Throwback Style

Reintroduced after nearly 20 years of “retirement”, the women’s pieces of the Panthere de Cartier collection are amazing vintage-inspired homages to one of Cartier’s most legendary watch lines. Featuring bold rectangle faces (the direct cousin of the Tank collections), diamond-covered bezels, blue sapphire adorned crown, and available two-toned gold bracelets, the women’s watches of the Panthere de Cartier collection are truly second-to-none when it comes to haute couture-inspired fashions for the everyday woman.

Pictured above made of 18-karat white gold, rose gold, yellow gold, and stainless steel, these Panthere de Cartier models are built to remain bright, bold, and shiny for more than a lifetime of wear and appreciation. Additionally, with the 100 year anniversary of the Cartier Tank collection just around the corner, we’re expecting big things on the horizon from Cartier and are sure that whatever they do next is sure to take the women’s watch world by storm.

Trend #3: Oversized Watch Faces

In the past, it wasn’t uncommon for a ladies’ timepieces to be subtle, dainty, and small. And while there was a certain amount of sophistication in a more diminutive timepiece, recently women’s watchmaking groups, such as the Swiss-based designers at Carl F. Bucherer, have started creating models with large confident faces that make big and brilliant ways to bring an unforgettable diamond glow to the wrist of any wearer.

For example, these watches are from the innovative AutoDate collection by Carl F. Bucherer and feature the sort of on-trend faces that we’re expecting to become commonplace in the new year. A subcollection of Carl F. Bucherer’s legendary Patravi collection, these chic women’s watches (model #’s 00.10617.07.23.31 & 00.10622.08.77.31) are made with 18-karat rose gold and stainless steel, as well as include a plethora of handpicked and hand-placed white diamonds.

Additionally, never sacrificing function for fashion, these pieces also include a precise automatic (self-winding) movement, easy-to-read subdials, and a 2-year international warranty when purchased at an authorized retailer such as Costello Jewelry Company (if you happen to be in the Naperville or Glen Ellyn area).
