The Best Bad Guys’ Watches of 2017

As much as we hate to admit it, sometimes the bad guy of a movie is so compelling that they bring a certain charisma and flair to the film in which they’re menacing the good guys. Now, we’re not saying we sympathize with the baddies we chose today, but … we do like their style.

And speaking of style, we thought it’d be interesting to pair the best villains of 2017 movies with a matching timepiece. If the hero in your life is looking to add a little villainous cool to his look, read on to find the right watch for him!

“The Shape of Water” – Colonel Richard Strickland – Superocean II 44

Michael Shannon brings an intense level of “1960’s military man” to his role as Col. Richard Strickland in Guillermo del Toro’s “The Shape of Water.” As a former Army man who travels to the Amazon rainforest — and later deals with a water creature — we think that the sleek and professional look of the Superocean II 44 would be a good match for Col. Strickland.

Plus, with a luminescent coating, a water pressure resistance down to 3,300 ft, and a security valve that automatically balances pressure changes inside the watch, this brilliant timepiece is one of the most versatile Breitling watches for the man who deals with water (or the shape of it) on a regular basis.

“Blade Runner 2049” – Dr. Eldon Tyrell – Manero Tourbillon 00.10918.03.13.01

Picking Dr. Tyrell might be a controversial decision, since he’s not explicitly antagonistic, and doesn’t even appear in “Blade Runner 2049,” but consider this: Eldon Tyrell was directly tied (no spoilers!) of the events of “Blade Runner 2049,” and it’s certainly the case that his short-sighted actions were the philosophical groundwork for the troubles of the first film! We can confidently say that Dr. Tyrell is, in many ways, the larger-scope bad guy of both films.

As a renaissance man, genius, and designer of synthetic human beings, we think that our choice of timepieces from the Carl F. Bucherer Manero Tourbillon collection is an ideal one. Featuring a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides, an internal balance mechanism designed to defy direction or gravity, and a visible “tourbillon” mechanism in a rotating cage, this watch is a dazzling feat of design and technology.

“The Last Jedi” – Kylo Ren – Constellation Globemaster 130.30.39.21.03.001

Embrace the power of the Dark Side! Or rather, simply embrace the power of the Omega Constellation Globemaster collection. Kylo Ren is the most visible face of villainy in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” and we can picture this dark and smoldering hunk of bad guy in a watch like the one we chose.

We’ll be fair — we didn’t pick the watch just because the name is “constellation!” The dark blue of the timepiece’s dial, paired with its strong and durable steel-on-steel architecture, would be a good accessory for the dark Jedi with plenty of business to do in the galaxy. Also, with an automatic movement, resistance to magnetic interference, and a transparent case back, this watch is a true masterpiece of Omega Swiss-quality design.

“We Shall Become More Powerful than You Can Possibly Imagine!”

We’re teasing, of course! But if you’d like to add to our knowledge of bad guy couture, don’t hesitate to let us know! As a bunch of movie and watch buffs, we at Luxurious J&T love to hear about both. Contact us on our Facebook or Twitter, and tell us what you think.
